Financial Peace University at Hopwood

The average household in the US carries $38,000 in debt. People are losing homes right and left as the housing market implodes. 70% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. 55% of Americans “always” or “sometimes” worry about money. Many Americans are two paychecks away from homelessness.

Sobering statistics? Here’s one more good stat: Twenty people meet here each Wednesday evening for a great class on managing finances. We have faced the fact that we have learned very little in our schools, churches, and even families with regards to creating stability in family finances. So we’re thankful for this class, which deals with major themes like: Getting out of Debt; staying out of debt; learning to save; learning to give. The class has a video component, led by Dave Ramsey. Rae Augenstein leads the rest of the discussion. This class will prove pivotal in the lives of many of the participants. We’re already planning to start another Class next year.
