Matt and Megan Cox - Overview

Matt and Megan CoxMatthew and Megan Cox are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship assigned to Latin America. Matt, as a pilot, looks forward to using the airplane to help spread the Gospel. He believes the airplane is a great tool to help touch lives and show God"s love. "Because God has loved us and showed us His grace and mercy," he shares, "we are inspired to love." A verse of special significance to Matt and Megan is 1 John 4:19, "We love because He first loved us."

Matt was born in Mississippi and spent his school years in Colorado and Kentucky. When he was 11, through the invitation of a school friend, he attended Vacation Bible School where he accepted Christ as his Savior. Later, his parents came to know Christ while attending this same church. As a high school student, Matt taught Bible clubs in the summer with Child Evangelism Fellowship. During this time, he met a missionary who told him about MAF and Moody Bible Institute. Matt earned a B.S. in Missionary Aviation Technology from Moody Aviation in Tennessee. He is a commercial pilot with instrument rating and a certified aircraft mechanic.

After college, Matt worked with Young Life for two years. He was also an intern in the hangar at MAF headquarters in Redlands, California, for a year and a half before joining Mission Aviation Fellowship as career staff. "Philippians 3:7-8 puts into perspective what is important," Matt says. "But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ."

Megan was born at Edwards AFB, California. As an Air Force family, they moved often during the years she was in elementary school. When she was a young teen, they settled in Media, Pennsylvania. She knew she wanted to be a missionary a short time after she accepted Christ at the age of 15. Megan earned a B.A. in English, with a minor in theater, from Milligan College in Tennessee. She has a secondary teaching certificate, and before joining MAF, was an English teacher.

Megan and Matt were married in Tennessee in October 1999. As well as providing a loving home for Matt, Megan looks forward to getting involved with the local community and serving God with the ministry He has chosen for her. Megan"s favorite verses are Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
