Friends, At our common life gatherings the topic of how we pray and read Scripture throughout the week has been an important part of our conversations. Some among us are drawn to the idea of a covenant, or commitment to pray and the reading of Scripture daily. All who feel called are invited to commit to the covenant below throughout the summer of 2011. Hopwood Christian Church Summer (May-August) 2011 Covenant • We commit to daily prayer at 9am, 12noon, and 6pm daily. Praying the Lord's Prayer and praying for our brothers and sisters in Christ at these times is encouraged.

We will hold a memorial service for Harmon Gouge Monday, January 24, at 7 p.m.  Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 5 to 7.  Hopwood remembers and celebrates the life of this beloved brother and rejoices in the knowledge that he is with our Lord. 

The average household in the US carries $38,000 in debt. People are losing homes right and left as the housing market implodes. 70% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. 55% of Americans “always” or “sometimes” worry about money. Many Americans are two paychecks away from homelessness.

The Perspectives Course is coming our way again. Perspectives is an internationally known, sixteen week introduction to missions that could change your life! Hosted by Emmanuel School of Religion, Perspectives is a course of vision—a vision that mobilizes and equips the people of God to live a life of passion and purpose as Jesus did. Perspectives is also a course of purpose—a purpose to create a movement to help God's people embrace their destiny of extending the blessing of Abraham received to every people group.
